Arlene Barr wins a Gold Medal at the International Childrens Games in Athens

Congratulations to Arlene Barr who won a gold medal at the International Childrens Games in Athens.
Team Lanarkshires girls 4 x 100m relay team won the event in 49.77 seconds with Arlene running the first leg before passing on the baton to Rachel Whittle, Mhairi Hendry and Emma Brown.
Arlene also finished 26th out of 46 competitors in the long jump with a leap of 4.30m and reached the semi final of the 100m where she ran 13.04 seconds.
The International Childrens Games will be held in Bahrain in 2010, when Arlene is still young enough to compete, before coming to Lanarkshire in 2011.
